The Eyes are the windows to the world, How Perception affects what we do.

To understand how Acupuncture, yoga, meditation, nutrition and things of the like can help with modern issues in health, such as weight loss, depression, etc. We must first look directly at the understanding mechanism of the human being itself, the very core of our logic and thinking.

When it comes to understanding the universe and ourselves, there are two forms of thinking. Mechanistic thinking and systems thinking. Mechanistic thinking looks directly at something and primarily separates the parts and only associates the parts in an obvious and direct way.

Systems thinking deeply and extensively observes the association of all these parts at even the most minute level, it even includes the observer (you) in understanding that which is being studied.

For example: a car from a mechanistic standpoint will understand the tire and the engine, and will make some obvious associations, such as if the engine dies, the tires will not move as it should. However, from a systems thinking standpoint the mechanistic viewpoint is expanded upon to include variables that’s not obviously associated with the vehicle.

The Driver of the Car is not usually included with the vehicle itself during a visit to the mechanic, but what’s a car without the driver? In the same way, we could look at the Human Body like a Car. It would be easy to just observe the mechanistic reality of the human body, such as the Heart, Lungs, Muscles, Bone etc Yet, just like a car the human body has a driver as well.

It’s called the human Mind, the human spirit, and the human will. In Western Medicine there is an entire host of diseases called psychosomatic disorders, which basically claim that physical illness can arise from the mind and emotions.

Now that we understand that the mind is the driver of the body, the next natural step is realizing that the body doesn’t just “run” because of chemicals and organs alone — it runs on information. Signals. Communication. Qi (氣).

In Western medicine, this information travels via nerves, fascia, fluids, and electromagnetic fields. But Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been describing this same communication system for over 2,000 years, using a poetic and systematic language. Instead of talking about “nerve conduction velocity,” it refers to the flow of Qi through channels (Jing Luo 經絡)

Your body is like a huge city. The organs are the buildings, and the channels are the roads where information (like little delivery trucks) travels. Acupuncture is like placing little traffic lights or repair crews to redirect traffic, open blockages, and restore flow.

If you feel tired, sad, inflamed, or stuck — that’s like rush hour traffic in your body. Acupuncture uses specific points to release those jams so your body and mind can get back in sync.

In short: Acupuncture doesn’t “add” anything to the body. It reminds the body of what it already knows how to do. This is why it can help with things as varied as weight regulation, depression, autoimmunity, digestive imbalances, and pain.

Acupuncture works because it treats the human being as a complete system — not just a machine with parts, but a conscious, communicative organism. It doesn’t force healing — it facilitates the rebalancing of patterns already present.

Whether you are trying to lose weight, ease depression, or simply feel more like yourself, systems thinking teaches us: healing is never about one thing — it’s about restoring the flow across everything.

Meet Jay Goldman, L.Ac.
Licensed Acupuncturist, Certified Kriya Yoga Instructor, Mind-Body Educator

Jay Goldman blends the wisdom of ancient healing traditions with modern therapeutic practices. He is a licensed acupuncturist and certified Kriya Yoga instructor, with over 20 years of experience in Eastern philosophy, meditation, and martial arts.

Jay offers personalized care that integrates acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, electrotherapy, heat therapy, meditation instruction, and more. His work emphasizes balance — not just physically, but mentally and spiritually.

A Lifelong Path of Healing
Jay began studying meditation and Shaolin Kung Fu at the age of 9. By 13, he trained under 34th Generation Shaolin Monk Shi Yan Ming, and at 15, with world-renowned Indian Master Swami Bua Ji from Tamil Nadu, India. At 16, he was initiated into the Ancient Art of Kriya Yoga, a deep meditation system that bridges spiritual and material life.

Inspired by the connections between yoga, meditation, and medicine, Jay went on to study Traditional Chinese Medicine, recognizing its shared roots with the Shaolin and Yogic paths.

The Synergy of Meditation & Acupuncture
Kriya Meditation offers a welcoming, non-invasive approach to self-discovery — especially for those who find traditional meditation overwhelming or “too hard.” Jay’s method meets people where they are, gently guiding them into balance.

Modern science now confirms what ancient masters knew: chronic stress damages the body. Jay teaches simple, effective meditation tools that synergize beautifully with acupuncture, helping patients maintain calm, reduce tension, and experience deeper healing.

More Than a Practitioner — A Real Human Being
Outside the clinic, Jay enjoys time with his family, dancing, laughing, and celebrating life. "Even at 41, I still love to party," he says. "But the key is balance. That's the secret — joy and peace aren't opposites. They're both part of health."

A Legacy of Healing
Jay is the son of Dr. Martin Goldman, MD, one of the first Western medical doctors to offer acupuncture in Westchester County, NY — starting in the early 1980s. His father also supported the U.S. debut of Dr. Vasant Lad, now regarded as one of the leading Ayurvedic doctors in America.

Jay honors this lineage of healing and expresses deep gratitude to all his teachers and mentors.
